Donald of Mars: Chapter 77 Ducklings
Adding in the wrong thing to a close in ecology on Mars can do a lot of damage. Multiple ecologies and lots of redundancy will be necessary.
Looking at the mess the ducklings made of his bottom room, and his now mostly missing fingerlings and decimated strawberries plants, Donald knew he had to either get rid of them or make some changes, some physical, some to his ecology.
“What do you think?” he asked the kitten that was nearly twice the size it had been when he arrived.
“Meow?”
Donald laughed. He could hardly miss that Albert was asking something. When he sat down on the step, Albert immediately jumped into his lap and started purring.
They’d named the ducklings, and they were now Albert’s playmate when the dojo was open, so getting rid of them was not something he wanted to do.
But he hadn’t designed his place for free range ducks or chicken, instead of cage kept. To leave them free, he had to redesign. That would cost.
He paused stroking the cat in his lap.
Maybe not.
