Light streamed in through the open side door, fully illuminating the compartment, when Bob’s alarm woke him. Closing that door hadn’t been a viable option. King Peter warned him in training that with the door closed, the room was airtight.

Kitten and Jade hopped up off the floor to start breakfast without the grumbling Magic was often prone to.

Stretching and sitting up, he asked, “You think Jade will work out?”

Kitten gave him a huge grin. “Much better than your last two, for sure. Magic was hopeless. She didn’t like men. Bree, with strict training from an expert, might be worth something, but at the moment, is too full of herself. Jade is a slut and doesn’t mind being a slave, from all I have seen. In a week, Jackal and I will have her trained to a perfection.”

He reached for his pants. “I’m going to check on White Eddy. Have fresh coffee and a snack ready for when I come out. Send messages to Jackal and Rice that I’ll take any reports then.”

From outside the open door, a man’s voice said, “I’ve already sent word to them you are up. They will be here when you come out.”

Rice had good people under him, but needed more. A lot more. White Eddy’s jump in population had just started an arms race on Asgard.

The scanners showed Eddy had construction equipment scattered all over his place, including two dozen bobcats, and his tent filled with skids of rice, flour, and dry goods. Outside the tent sat mud-splattered skids of canned goods, pots and pans, and other household goods. Bob would need to look back in time and see how he stole that much, that fast.

The Medusa wasn’t there.
