Vikings of Asgard Chapter 29 Warsaw and Beyond
Bob drops of Rachel in WWII Warsaw to get some of them out.
The fact that Rachel looked, and stood, far different in clothes than when forced to run around naked, confirmed to Bob that slave girls should be kept nude.
Captain Rice growled, “This is a mistake. She isn’t about to return to become a slave again, and you can’t trust the people she had there to meet you to be anything other than the most useless people there. You can’t trust those people.”
Anger filled her voice. “You are wrong: about me, and about them. I will be utterly terrified the entire twenty-three hours I’ll be there. Sending the useless isn’t likely. Except for the children, the Nazis have already killed off those they thought useless. For rescuing families with kids, he will have the parents’ full loyalty. I’ll be back, even if it means returning to being a slave and a whore. Never doubt that. The people I bring will be loyal, if treated fairly by you and the others.”
Bob fought to keep the smile off his face. Even her attitude was different. But he wanted her to stand up to Rice in this case.
Rice sneered at her, “Jew’s aren’t loyal, not even to each other.”
Captain Rice’s dislike of Jews didn’t surprise Bob, considering the places Jackal would have looked for mercenaries.
Bob put as much steel in his voice as he could. “Captain, there is an excellent chance that one or more of those people will end up as squires before the week is out. Furthermore, my own mother’s grandmother was Jewish. You will give these people the same respect you give any group of unknowns. In two weeks, we will stage the rescue you suggested, but not this time. It is complicated and it will take you that long to train your force. I need a large group of people now. We are getting them from Nazi-occupied Poland.”
